You will be invited for a free medical skin consultation prior to treatment. This is a legal requirement as Toxin is a prescription only Medicine and has to be prescribed.

In the UK there are different botulinum toxins available: Botox®, Azalure®, and Bocoutoure® are the most commonly used ones. These have slightly different on-label use and we will discuss these with you.

What is Botulinum Toxin?

Botulinum toxin is a protein that blocks the release of acetylcholine, the substance responsible for transmitting electrical pulses that elicit muscle contraction. In medicine, Botulinum toxin is a Prescription Only Medicine that has to be prescribed by a registered medical practitioner and is injected directly into hyperactive muscles. It has been safely and effectively used for the treatment of strabismus(cross-eye) and blepharospasm (lid spasm) since the early Eighties.

How does Botulinum toxin work?

Hyperactivity of the facial expression muscles often result in the development of deep frown lines, forehead lines and/or crow’s feet. Injecting Botulinum toxin into the affected area temporarily paralyzes the underlying muscles responsible for wrinkling, giving the face a more relaxed and pleasant appearance. The wrinkles become smoother and disappear altogether.

When and how long does botulinum toxin work?

The initial effects of treatment may become visible within 48 to 72 hours. The maximum effect is reached in about 1 4-21days. The smoothing effect of the first treatment with the injection usually lasts for up to 3 months. Your facial expression will become more relaxed and the overall result is very natural. The effect of the treatment generally lasts for 4 to 6 months. Re-treatment is then required.

How is the treatment performed?

A minute quantity of botulinum is injected into the muscles that cause dynamic lines, for example frown lines. The botulinum injection temporarily prevents nerve signals from reaching the muscle and, as a result, the muscle relaxes. As the muscles relaxes, the skin smooths out.

Treatment with botulinum can take as little as 10 minutes and most people return to normal activities immediately afterwards.

The current regulations stipulate that there must be a “cooling off” period following the consultation for new patients.

You will therefore not be able to have your treatment on the same day as your consultation if you are a new patient.

Nefertiti neck lift with Toxin.

As we age gravity pulls on our lower face, leading to sagging jowls, decreased elasticity and hanging skin of the chin, neck and lower face. Injecting toxin in this area can provide a subtle lift, helping you look younger and refreshed.

Toxin is a well-known product and effective at decreasing lines in the upper face. The majority of our patients are very happy with the results of their toxin treatment. Although the results are temporary, the small lift and decreased wrinkles are worth the process and the expense for many men and women. The neck lift has been shown to soften the aging process of the lower face and provide an appearance of a longer neck with a smoother jawline.

Gummy Smile with Toxin

Some people naturally have a high lip line when they smile. If this is combined with a deeper maxilla (upper jaw bone) the result can be the appearance of a gummy smile. Often people who have this natural appearance are a little self conscious despite the fact that there is nothing wrong with their teeth and they try to limit their smile. Fortunately, Toxin is a very quick and easy way to reduce the appearance of a gummy smile without any invasive surgery.

Hyperhidrosis (Toxin) injections

Hyperhidrosis Injections with Toxin are used for treating hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) on the body, typically the armpits, feet, hand or back. The Toxin works to block the action of the nerves which activate the sweat glands thus reducing the amount of sweating.

Patients usually have treatment once a year, some find they experience more sweating in the summer months, while for other patients it may be the winter months while wearing more clothing.

Prices for Hyperhidrosis (Botox) injections

Armpits £400

Scalp £300

Hands £350

What is involved in Hyperhidrosis Injections?

The area being treated is numbed with a topical anaesthetic 40 minutes prior to the treatment to make it a more comfortable procedure. Icepacks or in some instances local anaesthetic is sometimes also used. We inject the Toxin in a grid-like pattern at 1cm intervals across the area being treated.

A typical session lasts around 40 minutes. We will tend to treat both armpits or both feet or both hands, and the back as part of a session.

What are the risks or potential side effects of Hyperhidrosis Injections?

There may be some level of discomfort after the procedure including pain, burning, stinging, swelling or bruising. In some cases, headaches and muscle weakness may occur.

Toxin injections should not be used in pregnancy or when breast feeding. There are also certain neurological conditions where the procedure should be avoided such as Motor Neurone disease, and Myasthenia Gravis. Caution is advised when taking certain medications such as aminoglycoside antibiotics, Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, blood thinning agents such as warfarin or aspirin, as they can alter the effect of the effect of the toxin and cause bruising.

Is there any preparation needed before having Hyperhidrosis Injections?

All patients interested in treatment need to have an initial free consultation with a clinician. They will assess your suitability for treatment and other components to the treatment plan for managing excessive sweating. There are certain medications you should stop taking before receiving Toxin injections such as the ones mentioned above. we will be able to advise you on any other precautions you may require during your consultation prior to treatment. Depending on the area being treated, we would recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing and footwear.

Avoid sun exposure, exposure to UV light, freezing temperatures and saunas for 2 weeks after treatment.

Patients can return to work after treatment.

Where patients have had the soles of their feet treated, they should have made arrangements to be chaperoned from the clinic as it will be uncomfortable for them to walk

What is the cost of Hyperhidrosis Injections?

The Lip Flip £89.00

What Is the Lip Flip Procedure ?

A lip flip is a quick, in-office cosmetic procedure that takes about 5 minutes to complete and is good for those wanting a more natural look than filler. It involves the injection of Botox into your Cupid’s bow, which is the middle of your upper lip, and into the corners of your mouth.

The injection temporarily relaxes the muscles around your lip. This causes the part of your upper lip that’s inside your mouth to “flip” upward and outward, giving your lip a fuller appearance.

Before the Procedure

For 3 to 4 days before the procedure, you’ll need to avoid alcohol and blood thinners like aspirin, which can make swelling worse.

During the Procedure

Here are a few things to know about the lip flip procedure itself:

  • It should take only around 10 minutes.
  • The doctor likely won’t numb your lips beforehand, because the procedure isn’t very painful. The doctor will inject Botox into the centre and corners of your upper lip.

After the Procedure

Following a lip flip, you’ll be able to resume most daily activities, though your upper lip may feel slightly numb and look swollen. Here are some post-procedure tips:

  • Avoid smoking in the days after the procedure because it may increase the risk of infection.
  • Keep from rubbing or massaging your lips, which can cause the Botox to spread.
  • Try to sleep on your back for a few days so your lips don’t press against your pillow.

What To Avoid

Here is a lift of things you should avoid after your Lip Flip treatment

Stop Smoking

Smoking can increase the risk of infection, so it’s important not to smoke immediately after getting lip fillers.

Avoid Alcohol

Alcohol acts a blood thinner, and should be avoided for at least 24 hours after getting lip fillers. Alcohol can cause inflammation, increase the likelihood of bruising, and make swelling worse. It’s also a good idea to avoid alcohol a few days before your appointment.

Don't Fly

Your doctor will likely recommend that you wait at least a week after your treatment before flying. This is because the air pressure in a plane can make swelling and bruising worse.
